General comment No. 14 of UN Committee on the Rights of the Child on the right of the child to have his or her best interests taken as a primary consideration

In the current General Comment, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Children provides interpretation of different elements and content of Article 3 (paragraph 1) of the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the right of the child to have his or her best interests taken as a primary consideration. The General Comments further outlines the obligations and responsibilities of states in ensuring this right.  

What are General Comments: Each of the UN treaty bodies publishes its interpretation of the provisions of its respective human rights treaty in the form of “general comments”.
