Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Immunization Programmes (VPI) and preventive measures booklet
Within the European Union (EU)-funded COVID-19 Vaccination Support project implemented by World Health Organization (WHO) a booklet on the Vaccine Preventable Diseases and Immunization Programmes (VPI) and preventive measures was prepared by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan with the technical support of WHO. The brochure provides the detailed information about dangerous diseases as measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, whooping-cough, tetanus, poliomyelitis, hepatitis B, pneumococcus and tuberculosis and the vaccines schedule to ensure effective protection. 20,000 copies of the booklet have already been handed over to healthcare facilities. It is worth mentioning that along with 11 vaccine preventable diseases the updated prophylactic vaccines schedule was also included in the booklet. In 2022, the information about BCG, OPV və IPV vaccines was updated in the schedule. Vaccines save from death up to 3 million children annually due to the diseases such as diphtheria, tetanus, whooping-cough, flu, or measles. By boosting the immune system of children vaccines protect their from being infectioned in everyday life. Together with local counterparts WHO continues to contribute to strengthening nationwide immunization programmes with the financial support of the European Union.
