Event on "The Role of Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies in Combating Climate Change" Held in Shamakhi

The main goal of the event was to catalyse future initiatives and collaborative efforts among government officials, UN staff, technology experts, environmental scientists, and other key stakeholders.
An event titled "The Role of Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies in Combating Climate Change" was held in Shamakhi as part of the "29 Climate Conversations: The Road to COP29" series. The event was organized by the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR) under the Ministry of Economy and the United Nations Office in Azerbaijan, with the support of the Shamakhi District Executive Power Office. The event brought together various stakeholders to explore the transformative potential of technology in combating the climate crisis.
The event was attended by representatives from the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Center for Analysis and Coordination of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (C4IR), as well as the leadership and public representatives of the Shamakhi district.
The Deputy Head of the Shamakhi District Executive Power, Etibar Muradli, welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude for selecting Shamakhi district as the venue for this important event. He provided information about the ongoing work and planned projects in the district related to the implementation of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies.
Fariz Jafarov, Deputy Executive Director of C4IR, Soltan Bayramov, provided information on the educational activities and projects implemented by the entity within the framework of "The Year of Solidarity for a Green World" and COP29.
Mr. Niclas Svenningsen from the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC) delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the critical role of technology in achieving the objectives of COP29 and beyond. “The climate-friendly technologies we need to fight climate change already exist, but we need the political will to implement them. COP29 should contribute to strengthening that will” said Svenningsen.
Following this, presentations were made on "The Role of Fourth Industrial Revolution Technologies in Combating Climate Change," "Demographic Research Technologies Addressing Population Needs," and "Sustainable Healthcare Systems and the Role of Technology in Health."
The event concluded with a panel session on "Integrating Technology for Sustainable Development," where speakers shared their views on the role of Fourth Industrial Revolution technologies in combating climate change.
