General Comment No.23 of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights

General Comment No.23 of the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights provides an authoritative interpretation of the article 7 of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights on the right to just and favourable conditions of work. Each of the UN treaty bodies publishes its interpretation of the provisions of its respective human rights treaty in the form of “general comments” or “general recommendations”. These cover a wide range of subjects, from the compre­hensive interpretation of rights, principles and substantive provisions to general guidance on the information that should be submitted in national reports relating to specific articles of the treaties.
