With UN support, used oil barrels now promote SDGs

UN Office in Azerbaijan partners with Arts Council, a local non-governmental organisation, to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) thru visual art.

As part of a joint project, 17 local artists visually interpreted each SDG on used oil barrels. They serve now as containers for green bushes and placed in the yard of the UN House in Azerbaijan.

The project was funded by the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Azerbaijan and the country office of the UN Development Programme. Prior to the painting the barrels, the artists received training sessions on SDGs from UN staff.

In 2015, 193 member states of the UN, including Azerbaijan, adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development for a better future for all. In realization of these goals, UN Office in Azerbaijan is working very closely with the Government of Azerbaijan and other partners and will continue to use innovative methods and partnerships to promote the SDGs for the benefit of the country.
